1. Who We Are

Ignition & Velocity is a motorsport media publication operated by Intergrow ("we", "us", or "our"). We are the data controller responsible for the personal information collected through this website and associated services.

This Privacy Policy applies to all personal data collected through the Ignition & Velocity website (the "Service"), our newsletter, and any other interactions you may have with us online. It does not apply to third-party websites that may be linked from our Service.

For privacy-related enquiries, including requests to exercise your data subject rights, please contact us at marketing@intergrowcompany.net.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

  • Subscribe to our newsletter: We collect your email address. We do not collect your name, payment information, or any other personal details unless you voluntarily provide them;
  • Contact us via email: We collect your email address and any personal information you include in your message;
  • Submit content or enquiries through any forms on the Service: We collect the information you enter into those forms.

Information We Collect Automatically

When you visit the Service, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • Log data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, time and date of visit, and time spent on pages;
  • Device data: Device type, screen resolution, and language settings;
  • Usage data: Articles read, search queries entered, and navigation patterns through the site;
  • Locally stored data: Information stored in your browser's localStorage, including newsletter subscription status. This data is stored on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you take a specific action (such as submitting the newsletter form).

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, and you should never submit to us: bank account or payment card numbers, government-issued identification numbers, health or medical data, biometric data, or any other sensitive personal data as defined under applicable data protection law.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service delivery: To provide you with access to the Service, display content in your preferred language, and remember your settings;
  • Newsletter communications: To send you the Ignition & Velocity newsletter, race day updates, and editorial announcements (only where you have subscribed);
  • Service improvement: To understand how the Service is used, identify popular content, diagnose technical issues, and improve the reader experience;
  • Analytics: To generate aggregated, anonymised statistics about Service usage that help us understand our audience;
  • Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and protect the rights and safety of Ignition & Velocity and our users;
  • Communication: To respond to enquiries or requests you submit to us.

We do not use your personal information to deliver targeted advertising, to build commercial profiles for sale to third parties, or to make automated decisions about you that have legal or significant practical effects.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that applies the GDPR or equivalent legislation, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Consent: Where you have given us your clear, specific consent — for example, by subscribing to our newsletter. You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing;
  • Legitimate interests: For purposes such as improving the Service, detecting fraud, and ensuring Service security, where our legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights and interests;
  • Legal obligation: Where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation that applies to us.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Service uses cookies and similar technologies. For detailed information about the specific cookies and localStorage items we use, please see our Cookie Policy.

In summary: we use strictly necessary storage (such as browser localStorage for language preference) and may use analytics tools to understand Service usage. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies designed to build profiles for targeted advertising without your consent.

You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings at any time. Please note that disabling certain storage mechanisms may affect the functionality of the Service.

6. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes under any circumstances.

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We may engage trusted third-party service providers (such as hosting companies, email delivery services for our newsletter, and analytics providers) who process personal data on our behalf and under our instructions. These providers are contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality and to use your data only for the purposes we specify;
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose personal data if required to do so by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the safety of any person, or to investigate fraud;
  • Business transfers: If Intergrow is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all its assets, your personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on the Service before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Each third-party service provider we use is governed by its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Newsletter subscriptions: Your email address is retained for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. Upon unsubscription, we will delete your email address from our active mailing list within 30 days;
  • Server logs: Technical log data is typically retained for a maximum of 90 days, after which it is deleted or anonymised;
  • Contact enquiries: Correspondence received by email may be retained for up to 24 months for customer service purposes, after which it is reviewed and deleted if no longer required;
  • Analytics data: Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify individuals.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location and applicable data protection law, you may have some or all of the following rights in relation to your personal data. We are committed to honouring these rights promptly and without charge in most circumstances.

Right of Access
You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and information about how we process it.
Right to Rectification
You have the right to request that we correct any personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Right to Erasure
You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances, including where it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
Right to Restriction
You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, for example while a complaint is being investigated.
Right to Portability
Where technically feasible, you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
Right to Object
You have the right to object to processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests, or for direct marketing purposes.

To exercise any of your data subject rights, please submit a written request to marketing@intergrowcompany.net with sufficient information for us to verify your identity and locate your data. We will respond within 30 days (or within any shorter period required by applicable law).

If you are located in the EEA or the United Kingdom and believe we have not responded adequately to your privacy concerns, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Withdrawing consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to the withdrawal.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, destruction, or alteration. These measures include secure communication protocols (HTTPS), access controls, and regular review of our security practices.

However, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any passwords or access credentials associated with your use of the Service (such as any admin panel credentials). We will never ask for your password in an unsolicited communication.

10. International Data Transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located in countries outside of your country of residence, including countries outside the European Economic Area. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards to ensure that your data receives a level of protection equivalent to that required in your home jurisdiction.

These safeguards may include: adequacy decisions by the European Commission, Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, certification schemes, or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms. If you have questions about international data transfers, please contact us.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 16 years. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us immediately at marketing@intergrowcompany.net.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 16 without appropriate parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as promptly as possible.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the services we offer. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

For material changes — those that significantly affect your rights or how we process your data — we will provide more prominent notice, such as an email notification to newsletter subscribers or a banner on the Service. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

Your continued use of the Service following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
